Keep Lewisville Beautiful executive director Amy Wells received one of three national $1500 Waste Management scholarships to attend the national Keep America Beautiful 60th annual conference, held earlier this year in Washington, D.C. Scholarships were awarded based on the applicant's ability to share and implement what they have learned at the conference in the local community and/or financial need of applicant's new and growing KAB Affiliate. Wells attended the Jan. 29 conference as a first time KLB attendee.
"I am so honored that Waste Management chose me for their scholarship program. Attending the KAB conference for the first time was a great learning experience-I was able to see what so many great affiliates are doing across our country and learned valuable tips and suggestions for programs that I implement in my own community through KLB's programs," Wells said. "I cannot thank Waste Management enough for the amazing learning opportunity that they have given me through their scholarship program."
In addition to receiving this award, KLB was also recognized with Keep America Beautiful's President's Circle award. The President's Circle Award recognizes exemplary performance made by certified affiliates of the national nonprofit in building and sustaining vibrant communities.
